Passenger Information Collection
For those signed up for the trip, we have already started to collect passenger information. As the program and trip sponsor, Mr. Hummel will continue to collect a multitude of information not just on students but ALL passengers. This information is kept with him and not shared with anyone beyond the travel company, him, and the Booster Board in order to purchase our travel accommodations and complete the required paperwork. **Note that student passports will mandatorily be turned in prior to departing for London in December. If you have any questions, please reach out!
ALL data will be stored in a district approved method
Travel Documents
Passport Applications
Responsibility: All passengers are responsible for securing their own passports.
Current Processing Times: There is unprecedented demand for US passports. Standard processing can take up to 12 weeks, and expedited services up to 7 weeks.
Deadline: All passengers needing a new passport, including renewals for those expiring before July 4, 2025, should apply as soon as possible.
Visa Requirements
Responsibility: Passengers must secure their own travel visas if required.
Application Time: We recommend applying several months in advance, as processing times can be lengthy.
Insurance Note: Failure to secure a visa in time will not be covered by the trip's insurance policy. If needed, the travel company can provide proof of travel and a letter specifying the reason for travel to assist with visa applications. Contact communications@dmhs.org if letter is needed. We will connect you with the right contact to obtain the letter.
Green Cards
Validity Check: Ensure all Green Card holders have valid documentation before travel. The Green Card should state ‘multiple’ entry into the USA, not a ‘one-time’ entry. A 'one-time' entry Green Card will prevent re-entry to the USA.
Please check the specific requirements based on the country of issuance of your documents

Remaining Payment Schedule
All Payments should be made as of Dec. 6, 2024
Technology
Cell Phone Suggestions: If you don't have international service as part of your plan, consider adding one for the month of travel. You can additionally, consider an eSIM for reliable data and cell service abroad. During a recent trip, a 72-hour outage affected all major phone companies, but eSIMs provided a reliable solution. An eSIM can be purchased for download for as low as $8.99 from Better Roaming. Additionally messages are free if you download the WhatsApp applications to your phone.
Adapters-Remember, some of your appliances (blow dryers, hot irons etc, phone/laptop chargers) might not work in the U.K without an electricity adapter. Make sure to have what you need! Check out Amazon for different options
Remember an International Plan is a must for Communication, Directions and Payments
Staying Safe In London: Protect Your Phone
London is an amazing city, but like any big destination, phone theft can happen. Follow these simple tips to keep your valuables secure:
Stay Alert: Be mindful in crowded places like the Tube or tourist spots.
Secure Your Phone: Use zipped pockets, bags, or crossbody purses. Avoid leaving it in your back pocket or on tables.
Use Anti-Theft Gear: Phone straps or lanyards can help prevent drops or theft.
Limit Phone Use in Public: Check messages or maps in quieter spots.
Back Up & Lock Your Phone: Enable “Find My Phone” and back up your data before the trip.
Your phone is your lifeline for directions, photos, and communication. Keeping it safe ensures you can enjoy the trip stress-free!
Money For The Trip
The best way to pay in London is with a credit or debit card. Here’s what you need to know for a smooth experience:
Credit/Debit Cards: Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted everywhere. Amex and Diners Club are also accepted, though less common. Apple Wallet is accepted across the city.
Student-Friendly Pre-Paid Cards: Pre-paid Visa or MasterCard cards are ideal for students (just let your provider know they'll be used in the UK). You can opt for one-time-use cards or reloadable ones, so parents can top them up during the trip.
ATMs: For cash withdrawal in pounds (£), bring a bank card. Remember to notify your bank to avoid potential issues, and check for any associated fees.
Cash: Cash use is minimal, so avoid bringing more than £50 as most places prefer card payments.
Notify Your Bank: Let your bank know you’ll be traveling internationally to prevent any card declines. Most banks allow you to submit travel notices online.
Having at least two payment options is a smart move to ensure smooth transactions!
