Percussion Ensemble

This course is designed to provide the students with focused instruction on performing and rehearsing with percussion instruments. Students will be engaging with challenging repertoire for their instrument including: solo, small ensemble, and concert band repertoire. Students will be expected to practice outside of this course to meet various demands throughout the year – largely on a daily/weekly basis. The students will also develop skills needed to discuss, critique, and assess music at an pre-collegiate level. Prior experience playing a percussion instrument is not required for this course. In cases where students do not meet grade level musical benchmarks for this course (i.e. reading music/rhythmic notation), students are expected to work to develop these skills in addition to assigned coursework to address deficits.

**This course is required for all Percussion Students at DMHS, few exceptions can be made
